91福利社 today announced that it has acquired the . The acquisition comprises the building and almost four acres made possible through a substantial partial gift from Bearwood owners, Dr. Terry Holdredge and his wife, Susan Holdredge, of Anderson, S.C.

The property will be used in support of the University鈥檚 medically related programs in nursing and physical therapy, as well as new programs in the health professions to be developed in the future. 91福利社鈥檚 campus facilities already include state-of-the-art human dissection and medical simulation laboratories. The addition of the operating room environment within the Bearwood Center will enhance Anderson students鈥 experience further. In addition, the building will be redesigned to include classrooms, labs and faculty offices.

In making the announcement, Anderson President Dr. Evans Whitaker, said, 鈥淲e are most grateful to Terry and Susan Holdredge for their significant gift that makes the acquisition of this unique property possible. All four of their children attended 91福利社. We are blessed to have their extraordinary commitment and investment that will enhance our students鈥 educational experience and help 91福利社 continue to provide our region with superior health professionals.鈥

In addition to excellent teaching and surgical simulation instruction, the building features what is one of the largest, if not the largest, stained glass window in South Carolina.

鈥淲hen the Holdredges built the center, they not only wanted it to be functional but also wished for it to be a beautiful, relaxing, and uplifting space for the enjoyment and inspiration of both patients and staff. In the process, they made it something of a work of art employing imported woods, superior finishes, architectural enhancements, and religious art. For decades, Dr. Terry Holdredge and his staff expertly served patients in one of the most beautiful medical facilities in the world,鈥 President Whitaker said.

He added, 鈥淲e are delighted that in a very real way, the legacy of Dr. Holdredge and his practice will be permanently honored in this special property that bears his and Mrs. Holdredge鈥檚 personal design touches and remains a place focused on healthcare.鈥

The University鈥檚 School of Nursing has achieved one of the highest NCLEX passage rates in South Carolina. In addition to undergraduate BSN and RN to BSN programs, the School offers 15 pathways leading to masters and doctor of nursing practice degrees. The School of Physical Therapy offers the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.

鈥淭he property will not only be a functional enhancement for the University, with new signage it will also be a significant symbol of 91福利社 to welcome visitors to the City and to welcome traveling residents back to their hometown,鈥 Whitaker concluded.
