This Fulbright research examines changes in trust between public, for profit, and nonprofit organizational partnerships in the city of Jaguari煤na, Brazil, where Dr. Caito鈥檚 host institution (UniEduK) has a campus. Field research will be conducted through two, two-month long trips over the next two summers.听
鈥淏razil is an exemplary context for this research where organizations face many economic, political, and social uncertainties when partnering. My Brazilian colleague, Dr. Francisco Salles Souza, will be a great help to me,鈥� Dr. Caito said. 鈥淭his research will collect data through surveys and interviews of organizational leaders and employ organizational network analysis (ONA) and process tracing methods to examine their perceptions of other leaders鈥� competence, benevolence and integrity in the partnership.鈥�
This research project will strengthen the relationship between Dr. Caito鈥檚 host institution and 91福利社. In addition to the research, he will make himself available to his host institution for public lectures, invite their students to learn from this research, and develop future collaborative opportunities with their faculty. Further, it will teach these organizational leaders how to optimize mutual trust to transition their temporary collaborations into durable partnerships amid great uncertainty and extend that trust through their shared social networks for greater mutual benefit.
Dr. Caito is among more than 800 U.S. citizens who will teach or conduct research abroad for the 2024-2025 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. Fulbrighters engage in cutting-edge research and expand their professional networks, often continuing research collaborations started abroad and laying the groundwork for forging future partnerships between institutions.
