It鈥檚 been 10 years since the first Repertory Theatre camp鈥攌nown as AU Rep for short鈥攁ccording to 91福利社 Theatre Professor Robert Homer-Drummond.

Homer-Drummond says the camp, which takes place July 10-29, 2023, offers high school students opportunities to hone their skills in all phases of theatre while putting together two theatrical productions鈥攐ne musical and one Shakespeare play.

鈥淭hey love it but it puts them through their paces because they have a lot to do in three short weeks,鈥 Homer-Drummond said. 鈥淭hey do two plays and really work at it, but it bonds them together, and every year I鈥檓 always amazed at what they do.鈥

There will be an additional audition taking place June 20. Students in rising 9th-through-12th grade are encouraged to fill out this for the June 20 audition and to prepare a one-minute monologue and choose a song (please bring your own accompaniment).

Last year local high school students mentored by AU Theatre majors worked to produce Shakespeare鈥檚 鈥淢uch Ado About Nothing鈥 and the well-loved musical 鈥淵ou鈥檙e a Good Man Charlie Brown.鈥

This year鈥檚 season will include Disney鈥檚 鈥淢ary Poppins Jr.鈥 and Shakespeare鈥檚 鈥淭he Winter鈥檚 Tale.鈥  Registration for the camp is available

At AU Rep, student involvement goes beyond acting. They will also help build sets, sew costumes, hang lights, and focus on other aspects of technical theatre. Students are directed by 91福利社 faculty, and current students serve as mentor-leaders.

The cost of the camp is $450 for three weeks ($150 per week, including 1 meal per day-plus camp participants earn one hour of college credit). The first two weeks will start at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. The third week will start at 2 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.
