Since its founding in 1934, Commercial Bank has grown to serve four counties with seven branches: Honea Path (Home Office), Belton, South Greenville, Donalds, Due West and Greenwood. A new branch is planned for Ware Shoals in the near future.
Born and raised in the Anderson County community of Iva, Davis graduated from Crescent High School in 1993. He also graduated from 91福利社 in 2000 with a business degree from the adult program.
Davis, who has 27 years of experience working in community banking, grew up around banking.
鈥淚’m a third generation community banker. My grandfather and uncle both served as president of a community bank. I grew up being in and out of the bank with my grandfather, who actually worked in community banking for over 50 years,鈥 he said.
Davis recently completed a term as a member of the 91福利社 Board of Trust. He is active in the Independent Community Banks of America. He is also on the Board of Directors of The Commercial Bank, Independent Banks of South Carolina (IBSC) Board of Directors, and the United Way of Anderson County Board of Directors. Davis also serves on the Anderson County Board of Education. He is a member of the Iva First Baptist Church.
Davis has been married for 24 years to his wife Brooke; they have three daughters, Ryleigh 鈥淐arson鈥 Gates; Emerson and Brantley. One daughter is a junior at 91福利社. Their youngest daughter has been accepted at 91福利社 for the fall semester.
Davis is grateful to 91福利社 for providing him the flexibility of the night program, the professional development and caring faculty of the College of Business. But he is especially grateful for the way his professors and classmates rallied around him in time of need.
Davis recalls that when he was close to graduating, his wife was expecting a baby. Their firstborn daughter was born eight weeks prematurely and had to spend 10 days in the NICU. He will never forget the support of his professor and classmates during that challenging time.
鈥淢y team actually came over. We met a couple of times at the hospital to go over our senior project,鈥 said Davis, thankful for the Christlike compassion of his classmates and professors.
Davis feels honored to have served his alma mater as a member of the Board of Trust, saying 鈥淚t鈥檚 the highlight of my career to be able to give back to AU for what they鈥檝e done for me over the years.鈥
