In support of the effort to keep our campus healthy and safe, today we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Homecoming and Family Weekend 2020, originally scheduled for October 2-4.
In place of Homecoming and Family Weekend, 91¸£ÀûÉç Student Activities will host a series of several smaller, student-centric events to celebrate autumn at AU. Planning for those events are underway and will be announced as soon as possible.
A postponed commencement to honor the 91¸£ÀûÉç Class of 2020 still is scheduled for Friday October 2.
We recognize cancelling Homecoming and Family Weekend will come as a disappointment to our many alumni, friends, neighbors, and students. However, as of today the University has experienced very low levels of infection on campus as a result of everyone’s dedicated adherence to our Journey Ahead protocols. While Homecoming and Family Weekend is an important part of our University’s traditions, we don’t want to risk our hard-fought success by bringing together large groups of people.
Remember: small sacrifices now keep us from having to make large sacrifices later.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we ask that you continue lifting 91¸£ÀûÉç up in your prayers as we lean on God to guide us during the Journey Ahead.
We are stronger together.
