The South Carolina School of the Arts at 91福利社 is now home to a Steinway nine-foot concert grand piano. Renowned for its world-class craftsmanship and sound, Steinway is the piano of choice for artists throughout the world.
Dr. Howard Kim, associate professor of music and a pianist, said the Steinway is like the Rolls-Royce of pianos.
The new addition was made possible by A Day contributions from family and friends of the South Carolina School of the Arts.
鈥淥ur new Steinway concert grand piano is an example of family and friends rallying around a specific need,鈥 said Dr. David Larson, dean of the South Carolina School of the Arts.
Dr. Kim will join other faculty and students behind the Steinway ivories at the Beethoven Recital on January 24.
Dr. Kim is a long-time accomplished pianist; he began playing piano at just five-years old, and he won his first competition by age eight. He began teaching at 91福利社 in 2011
鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be terrific,鈥 said Dr. Larson. 鈥淒r. Kim has a growing following in this area. He is quite amazing as a classical pianist. It will be a special treat.鈥
The South Carolina School of the Arts invites family and friends hear Dr. Kim and his colleagues and students show off the new Steinway at the Beethoven Recital.
The new year, 2020, marks Beethoven鈥檚 250th birth year, and the recital will celebrate his legacy.
鈥淐ome hear classical music written by world鈥檚 best composer played on the world鈥檚 best piano, featuring our faculty and students,鈥 Dr. Kim said.
