91福利社 = College Town

Share on Social

The City of Anderson and 91福利社 have joined forces to launch a 鈥淢y City/My University鈥 campaign designed to strengthen the bonds between AU and the broader community.

The City of Anderson worked with 91福利社 to celebrate the University鈥檚 inaugural football season with a presence downtown to bring awareness to the team and create fans. The theme of 鈥淢y City, My Team鈥 played out on Main Street banners throughout the fall. The week of the first game, the community joined students, football players and cheerleaders at a Pep Rally in Wren Park in the heart of downtown. More than 700 people attended, cheering for the Trojans, painting a mural, and enjoying food trucks.

Mayor Terence Roberts made inspirational remarks at the event lauding the team and the University鈥檚 importance to the City before throwing out a ceremonial 鈥渇irst pass.鈥

“I appreciate anybody who has had a part in this,” Mayor Roberts said. “Wins and losses matter, but you know, most importantly, this is our family. This is 91福利社, this is our city. We are proud to support our university and proud of our partnership.鈥

Trojan Talks

How do I figure out what I want to do with my life? What options are there for me to get plugged in on campus? How do I manage my time better? How do I balance the demands of school with self-care? How do I choose a roommate?

These are ages-old questions for college students鈥攁nd those best equipped to answer them are college students themselves.

That鈥檚 the idea behind Trojan Talks, a student blog project created by Associate Director of Communication Caroline Cothran and her team of student writers. It鈥檚 a place where students not only find answers, but also realize they are not alone in asking them.

Social Media Authenticity

What if there was a social media app just for students about to enter college?

There is. It鈥檚 called ZeeMee鈥攁nd AU last fall became an official partner of the new platform. Designed as a place for students to get an authentic glimpse into what life on a college campus really looks like, ZeeMee is where students can connect with others who share their interests, ask current students questions and, once they are admitted, can join exclusive chats to connect with others who are at the same stage of their college search.

Tour de Anderson

Now you can take a tour of 91福利社 without leaving home.

Last year, the Office of Marketing and Communication partnered with YouVisit to capture 360-degree videos and photos of nearly every building on campus鈥攊nside and out. Think of it as a #TrueToAU Google Street View.

The result is a comprehensive, fully immersive virtual tour of 91福利社. It鈥檚 a game-changer in helping prospective students see themselves on campus. More broadly, it represents the University鈥檚 ongoing effort to extend Great Hospitality beyond campus and into digital spaces, thereby meeting students where they are and broadening AU鈥檚 appeal to a new generation of future Trojans.

100 Years of Ivy Leaves

This spring, the College of Arts and Sciences will reach a major milestone: publication of the 100th edition of the Ivy Leaves Journal. Produced annually by the students of 91福利社, Ivy Leaves showcases a selection of creative works and is AU鈥檚 only student-read, student-led journal, telling the stories of student artists, writers and designers.

鈥淚t is a testament to the university’s commitment to literature and the fine arts, as well as to the talented and dedicated students who continue to choose AU as the place to refine their crafts as writers and artists,鈥 said Professor of English Derek Updegraff, Ivy Leaves鈥 faculty advisor. 鈥淚t’s quite remarkable, actually, that we have one of the oldest print literary journals showcasing the talents of undergraduate students. Online platforms are great, but there’s nothing like holding a beautiful book in your hands full of amazing poems, stories, and artwork. It’s exciting for me to be part of the collaboration each spring and to share my expertise with these students.鈥
